Jen Benka Receives the Pegasus Award for Service in Poetry

Jen Benka (Poetry, ‘07) received the Pegasus Award for Service in Poetry given annually by the Poetry Foundation. It is the world’s largest foundation for poetry, in recognition of commitment and extraordinary work in poetry and the literary arts through administration, advocacy, education, publishing, or service.

Jen is the author of the poetry collections Pinko (Hanging Loose Press, 2011) and A Box of Longing with Fifty Drawers (Soft Skull Press, 2005), as well as the artist book A Revisioning of the Preamble (Booklyn, 2003). Benka has worked in service to poets for 25 years, including as president and executive director of the Academy of American Poets, and managing director of Poets & Writers.
